I'm dying

Tags: , ,
Seriously. I think I'm dying. What had been a slight case of hay fever has escalated into a full blown sinus/upper respiratory infection. I have no idea how many boxes of kleenex I've gone through in the past two days. I feel like my throat is on fire. I can barely stop sneezing and coughing long enough to get out my name. And I only just finished day one of my seven-days-teaching-without-a-day-off haul. If I'm still croupy (I will be) by Tuesday, I should be able to get in to the doctor in the morning because my two classes are late afternoon/evening. I don't think I can make it until then.

Oh, word to the wise: if you make mac and cheese, eat two bites of it, and decide you can't eat anymore or you will be sick, don't be surprised when the shot of NyQuil you down later manages to stay in your stomach for about 30 seconds before coming back up in a stunning display of digestive pyrotechnics.

On the plus side, that seemed to clear my stomach enough that the second shot of NyQuil I took 5 minutes later has thus far stayed down for about 10 minutes and shows no signs of coming back up.

The really shitty part of all this is that I can't really call in sick. There is no one to cover my classes, I am already covering someone else's classes on Saturday, and if I try to bow out now the bosses will assume I'm lying and just want to get the bloody Harry Potter book.

My plan for tomorrow/Saturday was:
Get up and drive to Virginia Beach
Pick up ticket at Barnes and Noble for place in line for DH midnight release
Teach class until 2:30
Go to hotel and get a good 6 or 7 hour nap until about 10:00 pm
Get up, eat something, go get book.
Back to hotel and read book, hopefully finishing no later than 7:30 am
Teach classes until 2:30
Drive home and either fall into bed or chat with folks online and then fall into bed

I'm really afraid it is going to have to be amended to exclude the book. I'm going to try napping tomorrow afternoon and setting an alarm for 10:00, but if I wake up then and feel like utter crap, I'll have to go back to sleep. If I only feel slightly crappy, I'll still go for the book.

I'm going to bed.
Sick
Feeling: Sick
Exploring: Bed
Listening: The sound of me coughing up a lung

Thanks. I'm still congested, but no getting sick so far this morning so hopefully I'll be alright.

We should have a contest on crappiest experience trying to get DH. Of course, I'm only saying that because I suspect I'm a sure thing to win and I could use a prize ;)

I got to B&N at 8:40 this morning and stood in line for an hour. But I'm in group E, so that's the top 125, right? It shouldn't take ages to get the book, should it?
