Popples and Rachael picspam

My mention of Popples in my last post has led to some slight confusion. I don't have the greatest pics to illustrate exactly what is a Popple, but I'm doing my best. I bring you pispam of bitty!Rachael and Popple and other 80s cartoons merchandise.

Fifth Birthday
My aunt made the Ms Piggy doll. My mom made the Popple birthday cake. That is PC Popple. He was one of the leaders and was my favorite because he is blue.

Fifth Birthday

I fell asleep while reading a lot! This had to be from when I was in kindergarten or early first grade because I don't have glasses yet. Or my folks just took off my glasses before taking the photo, but I think they would take the photo and then remove the glasses. Anyway, my sheets and pillowcase are Smurfs, the blanket is Popples (you can't really see it, but it is the same as the sheet set pictured here), and the doll is Webby from Duck Tales.

Me trying to sit on a unicycle that was much to big for me. Again, you can't really tell but that is a Popple on my sweatshirt.

PJs take 1
Rachael, age 6, lounging around in Popple footsie PJs. Click the pic and then the full size button and you can see the Popples better on the PJs then on either the sheets or the shirt.

I guess I decided to ham it up for the camera.

Glo Worm!
Just because MrsTater was picking on me about being a child of the 80s, when I saw this picture I decided to post it as well for proof that I was truly brainwashed by all 80s cartoons, not just Popples. I believe I have posted before about the infamous Christmas where I refused to open any presents from my parents because the one thing I wanted was not out in the unwrapped packages from Santa. I sat on the floor pouting about "Santa didn't bring me." This is the aftermath, when my parents finally got me to open a present to find the bedtime Glo Worm I wanted more than anything else in the whole wide world!

EDIT from my mother: I didn't sit on the floor whining about "Santa didn't bring me." I walked around in a daze whining about "Santa didn't bring me."

Glo Worm!

What's Taters, Precious?

I was not picking on you! I was in awe that you might, perhaps, have been an even bigger 80s poster child than I was. But maybe not. I did have Rainbow Brite everything, right down to my underwear....

Oh. Is that what that was? I guess I'm just so used to being picked on and don't know how to react to anything else.

I honestly don't remember but would not be surprised to discover there were Popple, Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony, etc. type panties under those footie PJs of mine.

Popples! And you have the same glow worm I did! I also had little glow worms and a treehouse for them. It was awesome.

I was Popple mad. My window curtains matched the comforter and you can already tell my wardrobe included many items with Popples. Very cool!

Between my sister and I, we had lots of little glo worms and the tree house and it seems like we had a school house or some other building as well. Gotta love the glo worms!

I love how all 80s toys have a school playset. My kindergarten had a My Little Pony school.

Be Cool! Stay in School!

Doooood. I can ride a unicycle!

I had smurfs sheets, the glow bright thing where you made pictures with lights, and I had a duck tales duck :P

My sister had a lite bright when we were kids. I got one in college with Star Wars pictures. If I knew where it was, I'd pull it out and make my own Harry Potter images.

I don't remember Popples, I think their popularity might have passed by the time I was around 5 but I did have a Glo Worm! In fact, I think I still do somewhere.

I don't think they were in very long, Popples. I only barely remember them coming out...and then they were gone! The 80s amuse me so much.
bratty_jedi at 3:14 am on 17 May 2007 (UTC) (Link)
Is you trying to make me feel old with all this "by the time I was around 5" stuff?

I love that Glo Worm and definitely still have it. I think we still have some of the mini one as well, but I'm less certain of that.

Okay, I've looked at Wikki, and now at these and have come to the conclusion that Popples are so cute, just like their name!

What a fabulous Birthday cake!

Of course, some of us were a child of the Brit seventies *ahem*, and sadly lack Popples in our lives. ;)

Popples are very cute. Too bad mine are in the attic or I'd take pics of the dolls. Of well. The pic on wiki lets you get a pretty good look at them.

My mom made awesome birthday cakes. She is very talented like that.

I'm just happy I could introduce you to the cuteness that is Popples, even if it is a bit late.
