Meme and OMG! Layout

Tags: ,
I have been working non stop for about three days on a new LJ layout using Nebula. It is so awesome. I am incredibly excited about this one and plan to keep it for a very long time, with the occasionl holiday or special layout thrown in to keep things interesting. Later, I'll post a layout info post and link it in the sidebar like I did for the wall paper and framed pics one (I'm using those pictures again and need to make sure I give proper credit). Right now I just wanted share my excitement over the layout and extend thanks to poor mrstater who has put up with three days of IM conversations revolving around "This book idea is never going to work! I can't make a book!", "Wow! I made a bookmark!" "Do these colors work?", "Is this font too dark?", and "I don't know what quotes to use, you have to help me!".

Now, on to the real post, the Meme that purports to contain 100 Questions, ganked from mrstater, godricgal, jdbracknell, and probably others.

001. When's the last time you ran?
I don't remember. I'm not a big fan of running because I have weak ankles that twist very easily and then I have to hop on one foot in pain.

002. Do your jeans have rips, tears, and holes in them?
No big holes in any right now, but I have a couple pairs of shorts that used to be jeans with big holes.

003. What are you dreading right now?
The oral portion of my comprehensive exams.

004. Do you celebrate 4/20?
I'm not really sure what this is so I guess the answer has to be no.

006. Favorite ice cream?
It really varies. My current favorite is to go to Maggie Moo's for vanilla with cherries, brownie, and caramel mixed in.

007. When was your last doctor's visit?
Well, it was supposed to be in February, but when I got there they said they wouldn't take my insurance despite having told me on the phone that they would. The last successful one was in October.

010. "First Loves Are Never Over;" is this true for you?

011. Think of all your exes. Would you take any of them back?
There is one guy that I might because we only went out a few times and things weren't right at the time. He was great but I wasn't over my prior guy and told him that I just wasn't ready for a new relationship. He was so sweet about it but we drifted apart before we ever had a real chance.

012. If anyone came to your house on your "lazy days" what would they find you wearing?

014. Have you ever been on your school's track team?
Nope. I was on the cross-country team briefly because one of my friends BEGGED me to join. I really can't run, though, so I became the manager rather than an athlete and everyone was much happier.

015. Do you own a pair of Converse?
Nope. One of my professors has practically every color ever made however. He loves to wear the bright green ones and always laments that he can't find any pink ones big enough.

mrstater 'cause she was the first on my flist to post it.

017. Do you eat raw cookie dough?

024. Are you cocky?

Not if I can help it.

033. At what age did you find out that Santa wasn't real?

Meeting with two professors to discuss how I should prepare for my oral exams, then possibly beginning to study for said oral exams.

057. Is Justin Timberlake becoming the next Michael Jackson?
I'm really not sure what this question means so I guess I'll go with no.

058. Favorite name for a girl?
I am a big fan of names where the kid can pick from a variety of nicknames. I was just discussing with my roommate (Liz) all the different variations people have on Elizabeth and the differences in personality between people who call themselves Liz, Beth, Betsy, Betty, etc. I'm for anything that allows for that flexibility.

Going with the same theory as above: William and Michael have always been favorites.

EDIT: Re: the layout - I forgot to mention that I know everything looks great in FireFox. IE6 and I were having issues, but I solved them all, or so I thought. Now we are back to issues. As in, some pages (full entry, tags, calendar, etc.) look perfect, and others (recent entries and friends) are completely out of alignment which makes no sense since it is the same CSS for all the blasted pages. I am giving up on IE6 for the moment. I've no idea how this looks in IE7 or any other browser. Let me know if you have issues, please!
Feeling: excited

Thanks! :)

The layout looks fabulous; I love the bookmark. I'm using IE 7, so I'll take a rolling screen shot and send it to you so you can see if everything looks as it should.
bratty_jedi at 12:57 pm on 04 April 2007 (UTC) (Link)
That would be awesome! Thanks!

I was ridiculously excited when I got the sidebar to work as the bookmark. I have no idea why, but the little strings at the top made me all kinds of happy.

Wow, great job on the new layout! Very cool.

I have no idea what 4/20 is either. I may have to go check to see what kind of celebration I'm missing.
I've never been to a Texas Roadhouse, but it sounds really good.

Fun answers!

Gah! Sorry, that was me.
bratty_jedi at 3:17 pm on 04 April 2007 (UTC) (Link)
No prob. :)

Thanks! I'm so in love with this layout. Now if only I could get it working in IE6...

Apparently this whole 4/20 thing has something to do with smoking inordinate quantities of pot. I think it is safe to say this is a holiday celebration that will continue to pass me by.

I love Texas Roadhouse so much. I go at least once each time I'm home because there is one about 10 minutes from my parent's house. Unfortunately, the closest one to me in Virginia is about an hour and 20 minutes away.

You know, there was a Texas Roadhouse smack dab in Waco when I was at Baylor, and I never once went there. I don't know if there's one in the Dallas area. You made it sound so yummy.
bratty_jedi at 7:29 pm on 04 April 2007 (UTC) (Link)
Texas Roadhouse is my favorite steak house, but it has more to do with the sides than the steaks. Not many places will let you get a bowl of chili rather than a salad or a baked sweet potato rather than a regular one. No where near as healthy in general, but totally yummy and healthier for me since I can't eat very much salad without getting sick.
What's Taters, Precious?

There's this amazing barbecue chain around here called Red Hot and Blue and it has sweet potatoes to die for. Texas has good food, doesn't it? ;)
bratty_jedi at 8:18 pm on 04 April 2007 (UTC) (Link)
I've seen a barbecue joint here in Williamsburg but I've never been. That name Red Hot and Blue sounds really familiar though. I wonder if that is what it is. Do they happen to featue a pig playing guitar? I know I've seen that on the billboard or side of the building or some such.

Gotta love the Texas food. I am such a steak, barbecue, etc. type person.
