Wizard of the Month Challenge

Yep, I just have the main journal without a sidebar. I don't care if it's in the header at all. Thank you, thank you. :D

1. Currently, if you go to your customization section, on the page where you enter custom CSS, what do the three yes/no drop down boxes on that page say?

2. I'm not completely happy, yet. There's got to be a better way to do some of what is going on but how's this for a start?

1. Use layout's stylesheet(s) – Yes
Use layout's stylesheet(s) when including custom external stylesheet – No
Use external stylesheets - No

2. That looks great, but is there a way not to have the big block of free space by the side of the journal entries? Also, that is freaky how you got my layout so easily. :P

Yeah. I'm not sure what is going on with the white space.

I was hoping yes was the answer to the first question. That makes it easier to get the tags.

I stole your CSS. It's pretty easy to do. :)

With right click, view page source perhaps? :P
bratty_jedi at 8:48 pm on 24 January 2007 (UTC) (Link)
That would be one of the ways. I've also got a web developer tool bar that will let me see a bit more and a slightly more organized fashion but right click, view source would have got me all the information I needed for this. I think I got rid of the empty space. There was an auto margin in there to account for the sidebar on the side since the system knew the sidebar was on display but didn't realize I'd moved it to the top. Now I'm just playing with one other thing... I think.

You know you're made of awesome, right? Thanks so much for helping me with this! I am slightly clueless when it comes to most CSS things, I know the basics but not much more, which is unfortunate since my friend and I are starting a webpage for a webcomic we’re working on.

Let me know if you'd like me to make you an animated icon or plain icon to repay you a bit. :)

Would you want anything else in the side (now top) bar? Your default user pic, the calendar, anything?
kileaiya at 8:54 pm on 24 January 2007 (UTC) (Link)
The calendar and link list would be nice if you can get it in there. :D
bratty_jedi at 9:21 pm on 24 January 2007 (UTC) (Link)
Tell me what you think

If you're happy, I'll try to figure out what all I changed and give you the directions to implement it.

If you're not happy, tell me what else you want.

That's great Rachael! Thank you. :D

We may need to see what some of it does when you get more links and tags up there. It will probably wrap around under the calendar and I'm not sure how that will actually look. I'm also not certain if we'll need to increase the padding between the links or possible add a separator between them since I've got them displaying inline. Any of that kind of tweaking will have to wait until I see it in action with your links, tags, etc.

So... first thing is setting up everything in the basic customization area.
1. The link list - uh... this should be pretty self-explanatory. Set up your links however you want. :P

2. The sidebar - You should set everything in this order:
*Doesn't matter because you're not displaying it
*Doesn't matter because you're not displaying it
*If you're just having one list of links, put your title text here. If you want your links divided into multiple categories, you'd set those titles on the linklist page and should probably make this blank.
*Cloud (or list, if you want but the example you showed me was a cloud)
*Whatever title you want
*Doesn't matter because you're not displaying it
*Doesn't matter because you're overriding it later
*Link List (or tags, whichever you want on top)
*Tags (or link list, whichever you want below)
*Default Userpic
*Page Summary

Actually, the last three can be in any order, since you won't be displaying them. The important thing is not to have calendar, link list, or tags anywhere in the last three or else they'll print a second time.

And I'll be back in a bit with the Custom CSS changes.
