Apartment like Hell

Tags: ,
Apparently I have not only angered the fruit gods, leading them to toy with me about cherries but I have also managed to offend the housing gods. I think they must have been annoyed at my characterizing my hotel as being from Hell and decided to teach me a lesson by demonstrating the heat of Hell. The first few days Lindsey and I were in the apartment, we had no problems. It was nice enough out that we never needed to turn on the AC. Monday and especially yesterday it began to warm up so we finally switched it on. Big mistake! Apparently, on both the hot and cold air settings, the unit spews out hot air. We knew the AC wasn't working very well and it was going to be a hot night but we hadn't realized it was putting out hot air. By the time we realized that, it was at least 90 degrees in the apartment (that is the highest the thermometer on the thermostat goes so it could have been warmer). We turned the air off completely and it dropped to 85 (improvement but still miserable).

I called first thing this morning about getting it fixed. They said they would get right on it. I called at lunch to check and they said it was in the "to do" pile and they would get to it either today or tomorrow morning. I emphasized the today aspect of that but when we got home from work, still no AC and 85 degrees inside. Both Lindsey and I have called it in as emergency maintenance since getting home. We have spoken to the answering service and we are waiting to hear back from the maintenance people. We can't take another night like the last one. The guys offered up their couch and floor for the night if we are too miserable but we shouldn't have to do that. A broken AC should be a top priority for maintenance and should have been fixed today. I guess we will see what happens if we ever hear back from them.
Burning Up!
Feeling: Burning Up!

Man, I hate being hot. You know me, as hot blooded as I am I have to have it below 70 degrees to be comfortable most of the time. I wouldn't have been able to sleep and would have been sick as a dog. That really sucks. I hope they got it fixed for you.

Wow, first the hotel, then the apartment. Hope they fix it soon. And it really sucks that you haven't been able to find cherries yet. You should hold someone hostage until you get your cherries.

Are you volunteering to be my hostage?

It is fixed. The guy was here when Lindsey and I got home from work today. He just left and the AC is blowing out nice cool air. This is good since there is a thunderstorm going so no opening windows tonight.
