Playin with my LJ - icons

Tags: ,
I spent all day today in my office thinking that would compel me to do work. Nope. I brought my laptop with me and spent the past several hours putting little pics on my LJ. I changed the links for permanent link, read comments, and add a comment so they are now pics instead of text. I have changed the little bald man next to user names (him > bratty_jedi) so that it shows up as a snowman on my page.

I've also learned how to give specific images to specific people and make that show on other people's pages. For example, I can give the witch from Wicked to author_by_night, what is supposedly a black and white cat to userinfoladybracknell, a Doctor Who blinking TARDIS to kileaiya, or Princess Leia to me (hope you noticed that I can change text to!). Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to put the individual ones into permanent coding and that is too much work to do every time I post someone's name so I doubt I will use the silly pics for people much. But it's good to know that I can if I ever want to for special occasions.

EDIT: Had to add, I found a werewolf for metamorfic_moon. He's a bit funky, but he is a werewolf.

EDIT2: I'm still looking for a good Tonks image but I found a new werewolf. This one is a smiley purporting to be Remus. Does he make a better metamorfic_moon image?

I'll probably change a few more things to pics in the next few days, but I need to find some coding for some of it and should really get my school work done so we shall see.

Ooh, neat! LOVE the Wolf for metamorfmic. And Elphie for mine. ;)

Thanks :) I thought you would appreciate the Wicked one.
What's Taters, Precious?

LOL! A werewolf! That's greatness.

I still think he looks a bit funky, but he it is cool having a werewolf dude.

You know, if you wanted you could put the coding into Meta's CSS to make all the little username icons show up as the werewolf while on a Meta page like I've done with the snowman on mine.

Loving the little werewolf! He's adorable, even as a wolf. And the Tardis is simply superb. What fun!

I think that werewolf guy is cuter as a wolf than a man. Rather like Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

I thought about giving the tardis to you since you have that one identify yourself userpic that makes me giggle, but I decided Jo's been sqweeing about Doctor Who more in general lately.

Love the snowmen!

Thanks. I think my Thanksgiving weekend project is going to be to change the colors all over my LJ again. I'm one of those that moves the bedroom furniture every few months but my room is crammed and I don't have space to reorganize so redecorating my blog has become my surrogate.

Oh how SHINY!!!

Love the werewolf!!

I really have to learn how to do that sort of stuff!! I love SQ's Tonks icon they have =)
bratty_jedi at 11:57 pm on 19 November 2006 (UTC) (Link)
Thanks. I might have to check out the SQ Tonks. Is it a smilie or what? I'm assuming it is theirs and they wouldn't want people stealing it but I might go look at it anyway.

The snowman is adorable! And whoo, Tardis! :D Hee.

Do you need to have a paid account to change the little icon-beside-a-name thing? I've been wondering how to do that for a while.
bratty_jedi at 12:25 am on 20 November 2006 (UTC) (Link)
You can do it all with a free account. Putting individuals as specific things like the tardis for you is coding in the individual message that you can get auto-generated from a couple of websites. The permanent changes like the snowman everywhere on my page is done in the custom CSS area not through layers, styles, etc. so it is still available to free users as well.

Oh, yay! I think you said above that you compiled the code, would you mind emailing it to me at jordymasonATyahooDOTcom? I’d like to play around with that a bit.

Awww, wow. I love my little kitty!
