At it again: Nymphadora of the Week

Tags:
It is a 20 minute walk from my office on campus to my apartment. This walk is one of the few times a day I am guaranteed to have a chance to relax. I generally make it as fun as possible through activities such as listening to mp3s on my handheld computer and walking on the curb like it's a balance beam. Tonight wasn't so much fun.

I was in my office doing HW until 9:30 (due in part to decisions earlier in the day such as taking an hour-and-a-half lunch at the "bar" across the street with some friends). Parts of my route are poorly lit so I decided balancing on the curb would not be wise. Somehow I decided jogging was a reasonable replacement. Needless to say, I tripped and the landing was quite painful. The lack of lighting prevented a proper assessment of my injuries so I retrieved my glasses and palm computer from their landing places and limped my way to my apartment.

As I was climbing the stairs to my apartment, I attempted to turn off my music and realized the stylus for my handheld had fallen out in my crash. I finally made it to my apartment after limping back to the scene of my fall for a successful search-and-rescue mission. Once home, I was able to examine my wounds. I skinned the palms on both hands but no real blood there. I seriously bruised my left elbow. The real story, however, is my right knee. As best I can tell it is now two bloody gashes and three separate bruises that will probably have swollen into one massive one by morning.

I am prone to infections due to my Crohn's disease so I have carefully cleaned all my wounds, slathered antibiotic ointment on them, and covered my knee in bandages. The largest ones I have are Harry Potter and it took three of them (a glow-in-the-dark lightning bolt, Harry with glow-in-the-dark lumosed wand, and four house banners). My knee is getting very stiff and I suspect I will be limping for days.

Word to the wise: if it is too dark to see to balance on the curb, it is also too dark to jog.

Oh, ouch. Episky! Did that help anything? I'm really sorry. Hope an infection doesn't set in.

The episky just might have helped. At least, all except for the deepest of the cuts on my knee have finally stopped bleeding so I'm down to just one bandage. The bruises on the elbow and knee are still pretty tender and the knee is fairly stiff, but I suppose that is due to the lessening of a spell's power over a distance of half a continent.

I think I should be OK on the infection front. The only place I really broke skin was my knee. Since the knee of my jeans miraculously didn't rip, I didn't get any dirt or gravel on those cuts, just denim.

Ouch. Poor you. At least your bandages sound pretty :).

They're very cute. I also have Star Wars and Looney Tunes ones, should the need arise, but I have more Harry Potter ones and they are the biggest. I am down to one bandaid which is currently the words "Harry Potter" in glow-in-the-dark purple.

*sends you a virtual Remus to tend your wounds*

Sounds very ouchy. I wish you speedy and infection-free recovery.

I have 2.5 hours until class and 2.5 chapters to read of a fairly dense book so I'm afraid virtual Remus is going to have to sit on virtual hold for a bit. Very much looking forward to him tending my wounds after class ;-) Thanks!

:( that seriously sucks. I hope the Harry Potter band-aids make it a little better (more fun to look at than regular ones).

Harry Potter makes everything better. Do you suppose they'll let me do HP for a comps field?
