I keep my motorcycle in the shed in my backyard so I ride through the side and back yard to park. When I came home this evening, the stupid rabbits that live in the edge of the yard got spooked and darted out in front of me. I hit the brakes, the bike skid in the mud, and the bike and I hit the ground. Well, based on the bruises forming on my knee and chest, I think parts of me hit the bike as I tumbled before I made it to the ground. They could have come from the ground, but my trajectory as I flew makes the bike the most likely culprit, I think. In either case, the bike and I both definitely ended up on the ground.

I think I'm fine generally except for the aforementioned massive bruises on knee and chest.

The bike is likely fine. The handlebar that hit the mud is slightly out of position, I think. I'll play with it tomorrow (unless I'm too stiff / sore when I wake up in the morning and decide to let it wait a few days). It might have just twisted and if I loosen a bolt I'll be able to twist it back. It might have actually bent, in which case there's not much I can do. I don't think it is bent enough to mess with my riding, but I'm not 100% certain of that. The bike's starter is acting up, it is due for the state-required safety inspection by the end of this month, and I'm going to be out of town the first week of June, thus unable to ride it no matter what, so I was planning to take the bike to the shop this week and tell them to keep it until I get back and try yet again to fix the faulty starter and fix anything else it might need to pass the inspection. If need be, I'll just add "Check the handlebar and either fix or replace as necessary" to the list. 'Cause, you know, I have so much money to burn on fixing something stupid like this. *sigh*

The rabbits are perfectly fine.
