BBC R4 Character Invasion

This could be interesting for any of the BBC Radio fans on the flist, especially those who can be in the UK on 29 March...

Radio 4 is having a Character Invasion. They're going to be having interviews with and about major characters, some of their regular hosts will be doing their duties as characters they've played elsewhere, and there will be live programs in various places in the UK such as interviews with cast, writers, etc. from current radio dramas; watching a radio program recording in a sound booth; workshops on sound effects and visual effects for TV; etc. I haven't delved too deeply into the UK events as there's a bit of an ocean between me and them, but for anyone who can be in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, London, or Salford on 29 March, you can find the links to each list of events and links to tickets and the like here.

For those of us who can't be in the UK, my quick skim showed that some of the events listed under the various cities will actually be web events, so that's annoyingly confusing and obscure. I might investigate later to figure out the various web events and decide if any are worth "attending." The actual radio broadcasts for the day, in addition to the hosts in character and interviews and the like, haven't all been announced, but so far on the official page there's mention of a silly hunt for Big Bird and a live performance of the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with as much of the original cast as possible. The R4 Blog announcement also mentions a new version of Hamlet starring Jamie Parker broadcasting during the preceding week as a build up.

Also, just have to add, I love the background image they've got for all the pages dealing with this. It's got Hamlet and Sherlock Holmes on it, of course I love it :)
