Rachael's Week in BBC Radio Vol. 49

I should get back to listening to something other than Comedy Panel shows soon. I'm getting back into walking more, but I'm at my folks' house for the holidays so I'm walking with them right now and chatting with them rather than listening to plays. I head back to my place in a little over a week, so I'll get back into a regular routine once I'm there at the latest. I'm going crazy without listening to shows but what with breaking bones, getting sick, dissertation deadlines, and holidays, I just haven't been able to. C'est la vie, I suppose.

Downloading 29 December to 4 January:

Hester - Omnibus
I'm probably most looking forward to this one, this week. It is a dramatization of a classic feminist novel about a Victorian woman who refuses to sign the bank she inherited over to a managing trust and insists on running it herself. It is also available as 5 episodes in the 15 Minute Drama.

Hair of the Dog (Afternoon Drama)
This one sounds like a light little play about various people in a pub on New Year's.

Melissa Murray - Theremin (Saturday Drama)
Based on a true story of an inventor who became a Cold War spy and then went on the run from both the CIA and the KGB.

Secrets of the Small Hours (Saturday Drama)
A man hired a hitman to kill his wife, was caught before anything happened, but was found not guilty at trial. Now the husband and wife confront each other. I'm mostly interested in this because Paul McGann plays the husband.

The Old Man and the Sea (Classic Serial)
Dramatization of the classic novel.

Daily Multi-Episode Programs Starting This Week

Listening to the Dead (Afternoon Drama)
Five plays on the Afternoon Drama, all set in different eras and dealing with the idea of peopl talking to the dead.

Agatha Christie - The Sittaford Mystery
A Christie dramatization, also dealing with talking to the dead as it starts with a séance.

Weekly Multi-Episode Programs Starting This Week

The Silver Sword - Ian Serraillier
Dramatization of a children's novel set in WWII Poland.

Lenin of the Rovers Series 2
I've got series 1 of this program about a communist footballer so just grabbing series 2 in case I like 1.

Atomic Tales
Serial adventure spoofing 1950s American science fiction stories.

Comedy Panel Shows
The Unbelievable Truth is starting a new run.
I've Never Seen Star Wars is running repeats.

Anything good y'all listened to recently or looking forward to next week?

I also did not listen to much in the last...well months. As I didn't have courses anymore I didn't need to go to uni and on the bus is where I usually listened to most stuff so I also listened to mostly panel-shows that ran in the background while playing on the computer...
I hope this will change now as, now that the university-madness is over I'll have more time again so I'm of course looking forward to the Agatha Christie. I think I listened to the audiobook once but never to a dramatication.
