Into Darkness

Well firstly I loved the film. The main three leads were all excellent and bounced off each other beautifully, the way they played with the plot of the original film was smart and I always loved Khan anyway.
Pretty much. :)

why the hell do modern action films have to do the whole imminent catastrophe at the start and every ten minutes thereafter thing?
Yeah. There is definitely the roller coaster up-and-down mentality. I don't mind it but I do agree that variety would be nice. Some action movies could be that way, but maybe some could try a different pattern for a while?

the best I can say about Scotty is that he wasn't quite as bad as in the last film. Star Trek has always worked on dry humour not comedy turns. The original character had gravitas. Pegg doesn't. And that fake scottish accent is awful.
I guess I just disagree. I think it works as a bit of lightheartedness and isn't that far from some stuff in older Trek. I see his accent as similar to, though not the same extreme as, Chekov's. It's not supposed to be fully realistic.

it's very ST. Maintaining social order always trumps everything else:-)
Fair point. Fair point, indeed.
