Kafka-esque Tech Support Update

My "You have to update!" and "I can't update because I am on the latest version!" runaround (see here) may have ended in favor of something actually productive. I just got a new reply. It starts "yep, you are right about version -- it was 9.4.8 on both computers. so you got a more exotic problem" and then proceeds to give me some download files and instructions on using them to try to figure out and resolve the actual problem. I don't know if I should just be relieved they're finally listening and doing something to try to help me or pissed at the previous stuff (12 messages over 5 days) and lack of apology for all that, especially the literally accusing me of refusing to cooperate and basically accusing me of lying about the version number from the most recent message not mentioned in the previous post but explained in a comment to it. Now I just have the slight issue of their support stuff depends on the problem reoccurring and I don't know how to make it happen. It just goes wrong sometimes but it hasn't happened that I've seen since the day I sent the original support request.
