Cabin Pressure: Yverdon-Les-Bains

Tags: ,

There doesn't appear to be a discussion post in the comm for this week's episode unless I'm just missing something obvious. So I'll just leave this here:

If there isn't at least a "Z" special, I might have to hunt down John Finnemore and demand one.

EDIT: Should have thought of this sooner, and perhaps it could go without saying, but beware spoilers in the comments.

I need one, too! It's kind of an open ending, they could go in quite a few directions, but to me it sounded like Martin wants to stay with MJN.
But I loved how Martin got 100% on the test, although no one else would ever manage it. And then did a really bad interview but somehow was still great at it.
And the bickering between Douglas and Herc, God, wonderful.

Martin can't live on nothing forever, but I agree he clearly, for obvious reasons, doesn't want to leave MJN. Obviously he just needs a sugar-mama who can take care of his financial needs and maybe be an MJN patron so they can all stay together. I wonder who could possibly do that? ;-)

OMG Douglas channeling Martin was one of the greatest things ever. </p>

I enjoyed this entire series, but I do wish it hadn't been quite so Martin-centric overall.

I'm so hoping for the sugar-mama solution. XD They could change their main airport to Vaduz or Zürich. For Douglas it could be a bit difficult, because then there'll be even less opportunity to see his daughter, but at least he'll keep his job.

Yeah Douglas as Martin was hilarious. *g*

It was quite Martin-centric or at least it felt that way. I don't think he had more lines than in the earlier seasons, but he and Carolyn had some major plot going on whereas Douglas and Arthur didn't.
I hope we'll get a special that resolves all this to everyone's satisfaction.

I think the last episode is the one that bugged me the most with the Martin-centricness (I am so completely making up words now) precisely because the rest of series 4 had been rather Martin and Carolyn heavy but this one didn't even deliver on Carolyn. We had Herc in this episode but we didn't get anything more on the Herc/Carolyn situation and how or if that's going to be resolved. There were two main plots running this series and one of them was just completely dropped in the last episode. We knew from the previous episode that Herc was taking the job and house hunting in Zurich, but there seemed to me to be clear setup that it was going to be addressed further and then nothing despite actually having Herc present in this episode.

Now that you mention it, it is pretty surprising we didn't get any news on Carolyn and Herc with Herc being in the episode and they even being in Switzerland! But I guess Carolyn's decision would have an even greater impact on MJN than Martin's and is thus delayed until later in the series?

Yes, that annoyed me a bit, too, because the Carolyn plot was mentioned so foten and then suddenly - nothing. But now there's a Z-episode confirmed, so we'll see what JF's solution is.

I must admit I really loved the open ending! It leaves the way open for either just the "Z" special or for another whole series. Cleverly done! :-)

I really loved the scene with Douglas becoming like Martin! I saw it coming about a sentence earlier and was giggling the whole time. Also, Arthur adding extra "brilliant" check boxes! ♥ This was a really good episode.

(Also, I like your reasoning about who should become MJN's financial patron. ^^)

I love the open ending as long as it doesn't really end there. A cliffhanger upon which we can speculate and then Finnemore can give us a proper resolution for later is fantastic. A cliffhanger from which I hang for forever is decidedly less so in my opinion. I've seen nothing official or even semi-official saying this might be the last full season, but the fandom just seems to have decided it is.

Arthur's Brilliant boxes! I'd already forgotten those. They're fantastic (which, along with schnazzy is my own personal over used word of joy/approval/brilliantness)!
