One hell of a week

Tags: , , ,
The only thing I've truly "accomplished" this week is getting my sleep cycle completely out of whack.

Sunday was the Day Light Savings change.

Monday I had to get up early to get a friend at the airport.

Tuesday I got up early to vote, canvassed for hours, walking many miles, for President Obama, then stayed up until 3:00 am watching the election results.

Wednesday I basically had an election hangover (no alcohol involved) and spent the day curled up on the couch reading post-election analysis and physically recovering.

Thursday I was somewhat back to normal in the morning, then went jogging around noon, badly twisted my already bad ankle, and had to be taken to get x-rays, etc. Final verdict is terrible sprain but apparently no break. I did this last summer but then I technically broke it (avulsion fracture not a regular one). I think it hurts more this time, though. I'm on crutches for a while, then walking cast, then a brace, etc. and have basically been told to stop doing this or I'll have to have surgery. Thursday night a friend and I had tickets to go to a broadcast of a performance of Marlowe's Doctor Faustus from London's Globe Theater. It was awesome but we didn't get home until after midnight.

This morning I had an 8:00 doctor appointment (regular check-up previously schedule not associated with the ankle injury). I was exhausted after it so I took a nap until like noon. I'm still tired and dragging. Here's hoping I can rest up some this weekend, get back into a normal sleep cycle, and be able to get some solid work done on my dissertation next week, something I haven't been able to do for ages.
