Quick Harry Potter Question

Tags: ,
In the books, is there anything explicitly connecting the four houses to the four elements of water, earth, fire, air? How about implicit connections?

I ask because the Pottermore website has each house as one of the elements and I don't remember anything from the books that even hinted at it.

I don't remember anything like that, either! Interesting, though. What elements are assigned to each house?

Ravenclaw is air (obviously)

Hufflepuff is earth (slightly less obvious but I think it works for the badgers)

Gryffindor is fire and
Slytherin is water (these two seem like the leftovers to me)
