Wanted: Sleep and a new nose

Starting last Thursday, I haven't been sleeping well. Most nights I lie in bed, unable to fall asleep, sometimes for hours. Other nights, I'll fall asleep OK at first, but then wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to get back to sleep for hours. I'm really dragging because of this and it finally caught up with me last night. I think I was asking mrstater at about 5:30 if I could go to bed yet. She convinced me not to since I would likely wake up really early. I managed to stay up for a few more hours, but I was still in bed by 8:30, lights out by 9:00, and sound asleep by a little after that. So of course I woke up at 6:20 even though my alarm wasn't going to go off until 7:30. I would have really liked that extra hour of sleep but it just wasn't going to happen. Oh well. We shall see how I do today.

My other complaint of the moment is that my nose won't stop running. It has been going nonstop for a couple of days. I'm assuming it is allergies. The only other option is that I'm getting sick from being wet and cold too much lately. It rained like mad on the Fourth of July so I watched fireworks standing in the rain. Tuesday, I rode my motorcycle to Barnes & Noble to go over lesson plans and read for a while before going to class. I was there for a few hours and about five minutes before I had to leave for class a horrible thunder and rain storm broke. I had to go to class in the rain, terrified of the lightning and the wind, and trying to decide if the raindrops just hurt that much hitting them at 65 mph or if there was small bits of hail mixed in. By the time I got to class, the very top of my head was still dry thanks to my helmet, but everything else was soaked. I wrung a lot of water out of my socks and decided I didn't want to put them back on because they were still so wet and disgusting feeling so I taught my high school class in my bare feet, dripping water everywhere, and was freezing cold the entire time. All I kept thinking was "At least I decided to wear the black tank top rather than the white one."

OH it sounds like you are having a rough week.

You'll eventually catch up on your sleep, which I know doesn't help the groggy feeling now, but hopefully last nights was enough to help you out a bit.

I couldn't help but laugh at your wet motorcycle story. One of my high school teachers had the same thing happen to him. He ended up teaching in borrowed gym clothes :)

I'm getting there with the sleep. I'm not nearly as groggy tonight. Of course, I ended up skipping lunch so I'm starving instead.

Anyone who rides a motorcycle just has to accept that occasionally getting caught in the rain is going to happen. I just wish it didn't happen on the way to teaching!

Maybe you just need some Nyquill and sleep, too. Feel better, hon.

No worries. I figured he'd gotten home and it was time for dinner or some such. How goes the cold?

A sleeping pill may very well be in my immediate future.

I hope things improve and you catch up. Sometimes things seem to get out of kilter, but if you slept from 9 to 6.2o that wasn't bad going. I do sympathise because I like my sleep and quickly notice if I don't get enough.

Of course, if you see a certain film too many times, it does have an effect on sleep patterns because you start hearing theme music in your head... ;)

If I don't get my 8 to 9 hours, I'm dying! I got plenty of sleep last night. At least, I'm not as drowsy now. Now I just need to get back onto a reasonable schedule. Going to bed at 9 is not going to work in the long run.

Of course, if you see a certain film too many times, it does have an effect on sleep patterns because you start hearing theme music in your head... ;)
