Random things I stumbled upon

Tags: , ,
1) There is a book store in Buenos Aires that used to be an Opera House and still pretty much looks like it. Is this not the most beautiful book store you've ever seen!?

2) Slate has a moderately interesting little article on the history of the semicolon. Surely I'm not the only one on the flist who would apply the word "interesting" to an article on the semicolon!

I clicked the semicolon link immediately. I have a deep love for the semicolon; its my favourite piece of punctuation. Most of my short fanfics include at least three. I laughed at the first picture and Poe not being a fan.

It always seemed that in school semicolons always seemed to be based on the teacher's opinion on them. My OAC English (grade 13) teacher loved them. My first year uni English prof hated them with a firey passion and we weren't allowed to use them in papers.

I like 'em. Semicolons for life, yo. ;)

Isn't it a cool article? I never knew so much about the semicolon before. I LOLed when I saw the Poe picture and the caption. I am a fan of semicolons as well. I should use them more. And not just for winking smilies. ;-)

Wow. That former Opera House is everything a bookstore should be. They ought to all look like that!

I really wish my local bookstore looked even remotely like that! It is fantastic.
