Pissy with Facebook

I'm more than a little annoyed at Facebook. I know people around here like to gripe about LJ being so mean or whatever, but I've never heard of LJ threatening to disable someone's journal because the person writes in her (or his) journal too much.

I just got a message from Facebook that I'm sending too many messages and posting on too many discussion boards. Because I use the site for things other than sending my friends 10 billion invites for the latest quiz application, I've been auto tagged as a spammer. That's right. if you send messages on Facebook, it has to be that you are spamming people with ads or something, not that you are legitimately trying to communicate with people. Basically, I have to "slow down" on sending messages, posting on walls, and posting on discussion boards or my account will be suspended for a couple of days. If I do it again after that, my account will be permanently disabled.

So beware: if you try to use Facebook, a social networking site, to network with people on any level deeper than "I'm going to send you a fake drink using some stupid application," Facebook might just disable your account.

Rachael, stop spamming people with porn sites ;)

That's crazy, and I'm speechless. Although I mainly use facebook for procrastinating at work by playing scrabble poorly, I know plenty of people who use it an obsessive amount to keep in touch with people. Have you responded to their email?

They didn't even send me an email. A lovely red pop up box appeared when I tried to send a message last night. It is so ridiculous!

I know a few people to whom this has happened before, but I honestly didn't think I was sending that many messages. It would help if Facebook would tell you how much is too much but even the FAQ to which they linked me for an explanation says that they won't tell you the limits, they'll just tell you when you've sent too many messages and your account is being suspended.
