I has a student

I got an email today addressed to "Professor." It was from a student who wanted a copy of my syllabus for my class in the spring. This led to one of those "OMG! This is really real! I'm freaking out now!" kind of moments and my realizing that today is the first day students can register for spring classes. So I checked. I have 1 student registered for my class thus far.
OMG! I has a student!
Feeling: OMG! I has a student!
Exploring: Desk
Listening: Highlander: The Series on DVD

That's awesome. :) What's the class you're teaching?

The second half of the basic American history that everyone at most colleges in the US has to take to graduate: U.S. History from 1877 to the Present. The big problem with this is that I am a colonialist. I study the 1600s and 1700s. I know nothing about 1877 to the present.

Thanks. Now if only I had lectures to deliver to my student. I've still got about 2 months, but with all the holidays in there I'm afraid I'm going to procrastinate too much and run out of time.

Cool in a kind-of-scary-because-I-have-to-be-the-responsible-one kind of way.
