Back in Ol' Virginia

Tags: ,
I made it safe and sound. The flights were fairly uneventful.

I got out of Houston late, but I had a long layover in Atlanta so I didn't run any risk of missing the flight to Virginia.

My allergies were acting up so my sinuses were stuffy. I was fine on takeoff but landing both times gave me a headache and made me nauseous.

I had a brief moment of panic when I got back to my apartment. They are doing construction and have blocked off several parking spots. These weren't blocked off when I left and I wasn't certain where I had left my car. I worried that it had been there and had been towed. My friend Andrew picked me up at the airport and he drove me around the parking lot until we found my car so no more worries.

I met my new roommate. We discussed theories regarding Deathly Hallows (she voters Snape is good). Needless to say, I think we'll get along just fine for the summer. :)

Now I am going to bed.

glad you got back safe and sound

I am glad to hear that your trip back was, for the most part, uneventful. I miss you already Brat. I am thinking of buying that game yall taught me to play to teach my step-daughters when they get here. Could be fun, as long as I can keep the pieces on the table and not flying at each other across the table. We spent the weekend cleaning like a bunch of maniacs for their visit. Someone asked me why I was cleaning my house for a visit from a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old, instead of having them clean it when they get here. I told them, "because my step-daughters are guests and family, not slave labor to be used at our convenience". They clean the house in little ways while they are here to earn extra spending cash, but I am not going to have them spic-and-span our house and steam clean everything in sight. *rolls eyes* Besides I want them to enjoy their time with us and want to come back, not dread it.

Guess I had better get back to work.

Re: glad you got back safe and sound

Rummikub is a lot of fun and not too difficult to learn. I bet the girls would have fun, as long as you can keep the fights to a minimum. But that is true for any activity with siblings that age.

Good for you for sticking up for the girls. I suppose I could understand a little better someone saying he or she personally wouldn't spend the time cleaning a house top-to-bottom for two young teenagers because they likely won't care if the house is a pig pen or not but the bit about having them clean it when they got there is just ridiculous.
