Meme ganked from mrstater

1. You have $10 and need to buy snacks at a gas station. What do you buy?
A pint of ice cream, pretzels, and a bottle of water.

2. If you were reincarnated as a sea creature, what would you want to be?
Probably a dolphin. They seem to have so much fun and, of course, they are the second smartest creature on the planet (right behind mice).

3. Who's your favorite redhead?
My sister.

4. What do you order most off the internet?
Too much stuff in general. Books probably come out on top, but I'm always buying stuff off the 'net. I have my credit card numbered, expiration date, and security code memorized from typing it all in a few too many times.

5. Are you thinking of someone right now?
Not really. I'm just clock watching to make sure I don't miss my phone call.

6. Describe your favourite pair of underwear.
Matching set of see-through blue lace with roses in the lace pattern.

7. Describe the last time you were injured?
I was learning how to ride a motorcycle on Saturday. We were practicing tight turns and they said to feather the brake to slow down if you need to do so. I did that and went flying up towards the front of the bike, then the bike fell, then I went down on top of it and have a massive bruise and a bunch of small ones to go with it. After I fell, they said "Oh, we meant feather the rear brake not the front one. If you do the front one, you'll loose traction, fly off, and the bike will drop." Yeah, I kind of figured that out on my own, thanks.

8. Of all your friends, who would you want to be stuck in a well with?
I don't know. Aaron, maybe. I could probably spend the most time with him sitting in the dark, talking about nothing, and not completely getting on each other's nerves.

9. Rock concert or symphony?
Depending on the group, rock concert.

10. What is the wallpaper of your mobile phone?
Picture of Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewbacca in their snow gear from ebing on Hoth in Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

11. Fizzy drink?
Root beer, vanilla coke or black cherry vanilla coke.

12. What type of top/tshirt are you wearing?
Baggy pajama t-shirt with Sylvester and Tweety on it.

13. If you could only use one form of transportation for the rest of your life?
At the moment, I'm partial to motorcycle, but that is just impractical so probably car even though I'm not a huge fan and walk whenever I can.

14. Most recent movie you've watched at the cinema?
I don't remember. I went to three or four close together and then haven't gone to anything in a while. The last few were Night at the Museum, Music and Lyrics, and Stranger than Fiction. I don't know which one of those was the most recent.

15. Name an actor/actress you've had the hots for?
Ewan McGregor

16. What's your favorite kind of cake?
Dairy Queen ice cream cake.

17. What did you have for dinner last night?
Sloppy Joe's and corn-on-the-cob.

18. Look to your left, what do you see?
Me in the mirror in the headboard of my bed.

19. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
Sometimes. When I wear my hiking boots, I sometimes, mostly when going to the airport, only lace them up to the middle and tie them off there. When I do that, I just slip them on and off. Most of the time I lace them up all the way and then I have to untie them or they won't come off.

20. Favorite toy as a child?
Popples.

21. Do you buy your own food?
When I am in Virginia, yes. When I'm at the folks' house like now, nope.

22. Do you think people talk about you behind your back?
I have discovered over the years that people do appear to have conversations about me when I'm not around but these appear to largely be good. For example, I worked for two different professors while I was getting my Masters and one of them told me they had been at a Christmas party together and spent most of the evening off in a corner talking about me, where I was applying for my PhD and the like. For another example, I recently added a new friend to the flist (howdy jadeddiva) because she and bratanimus met up irl and I came up in their conversation. If anyone talks about me in bad ways, I haven't heard about it.

23. When's the last time you had a sour gummy worm?
I honestly don't remember. It's been years for sure.

24. What's your favorite fruit?
Cherries.

25. Do you have a picture of yourself doing a cartwheel?
Quite possibly but I can't promise that I do.

26. Have you ever eaten snow?
Yeppers, but not the yellow kind!

27. What color are your bedsheets?
Blue and tan for the most part.

28. What's your favorite flower?
Baby roses.

29. Have you ever done ballet?
Yep. I did it all: gymnastics, ballet, jazz, tap, stomp clogging, etc.

30. Do you listen to classical music?
When I am doing homework or writing fic I like to have it on I the background. I do not like to just sit and listen to classic and cannot listen to it while driving because it has a tendency to put me to sleep.

31. Do you watch Spongebob?
I have seen a few episodes under duress and do not like it at all.

32. Last food you ate?
A handful of croutons.

33. Do people consider you intelligent?
I think so overall.

34. What time is it?
Depends on which clock you believe. My laptop says 9:54 but that is the wrong time zone. The clock in my bedroom at the folks' house was never adjusted for Daylight Saving Time so it says 7:54. In reality, it is 8:54 but there is no clock in my line of sight that says that.

35. Is your messenger on?
Yeppers.

36. Have you ever tried gluing your fingers together?
Tried, no. Done it anyway, yes.

37. What curse word do you use the most?
Depends on how you define curse words since a lot of what I say the most some people don't think of as cussing. In ascending order of severity, my most commonly used curse words would be bloody, damn, hell, and shit.

38. Do you own an iPod?
No. I have a palm computer on which I store and play MP3s.

39. What time is your alarm clock set for?
I don't know. My sister gets me up at 7:45 when she is leaving for work.

40. What CD is currently in your CD player?
My CD player is in Virginia and I'm in Texas. I don't remember if I left anything in it or not.

41. What movie do you know every line to?
Lots of various musicals and the original Star Wars trilogy.

42. What is your favorite salad dressing?
I don't really eat salad. Raw vegetables are bad for me because of the Crohn's. When I do, Ranch is probably my favorite.

43. Would you ever date someone covered in tattoos?
I have though I'm not a big fan of them and don't see myself ever getting one. The guy in question had three tattoos, one on his stomach, one covering his entire back, and one covering the entire lower half of his right leg. He also had industrial piercings in each ear and both nipples pierced. Yeah.

44. How old will you be turning on your next birthday?
26, but that isn't until next March.

45. Do you enjoy giving hugs?
For the most part, if I care about the person. I hate feeling like I'm socially obligated to hug someone I don't know over well.

46. Last time you had butterflies in your stomach?
When I started up the engine for the first time on the motorcycle.

47. What's the way people most often mispronounce any part of your name?
Rachelle for Rachael and I can’t even begin to explain all the ways people screw up my last name.

48. If you were to become famous, would you drop your last name?
I seriously doubt it. I like my last name and I have no idea why everyone mispronounces it since it looks straightforward to me.

Since I've talked so much about my motorcycle bruises, I figured some of you might be interested in seeing them. So here there be pretty pictures of Rachael's black, purple, green, and orange leg.

Big welt at the top of my left leg.

Close up of welt for pretty colors.

Slightly different angle on the pretty colors.

The rest of my left leg with a couple of bruises clearly visible.

Different angle on left leg for the rest of the bruises running down toward my knee.

It hurts a bit, but I'm OK as long as nothing touches it.

Thanks, but I don't swing that way ;-)

Ouch!

I bet you wish you'd bought that Arnica gel now ;).

As long as nothing touches it, it doesn't hurt at all. Even the slightest tap, though, and I'm howling.

Might be helpful. Eventually I'll get off my butt and get some. Of course, I currently have no car and there are no stores in walking distance of the folks' house.
What's Taters, Precious?
mrstater at 6:04 pm on 16 May 2007 (UTC) (Link)
Popples! I haven't thought about those in years, except that every time I bowl I remember one episode where the Popples were bowling balls. I had a mini one I think. Do you remember the show?
Rachael
bratty_jedi at 6:08 pm on 16 May 2007 (UTC) (Link)
I vaguely remember the show. It isn't overly clear in my memory. I had a big one, a baby, and a pet. My sister had a big on, a baby, and a soccer ball one, I think. The pet might have been hers and the soccer ball mine. I don't remember for sure.

Ouch! I hope you left the motorcycle black and blue as well. ;)

Okay, so I've studied your and mrstater's comments on Popples, and I'm none the wiser, so what were they?!
Rachael
bratty_jedi at 8:00 pm on 16 May 2007 (UTC) (Link)
I broke a piece off of it (the very tip of the brake lever) and it started spilling gasoline everywhere (does that count as making it bleed?). I got to keep the bit that broke off :)

Popples were cool little cuddly things with pouches on their backs. They could carry all kinds of things (or littler popples) in the pouches, or they could roll up into a little ball by flipping the pouch inside out and stuffing their bodies inside. They would roll into balls and then POP out. Or you could just look at this pic at wikipedia and see if that helps it make sense.

Bruises look ouchy! You be more careful next time. ;) Or get the instructor to give you the full story....

Popples are taking me way back! I had to look them up (and ask mrstater) but I definitely had friends who had them.

Full story at the start would be helpful. I will try to be more careful, though.

I've been flipping through old photos and found many of me with various Popple paraphernalia. I'm plotting a bitty!Rachael with Popples pic spam to ensure no more confusion on the flist as to what a Popple looks like.

Ouch! That looks painful!

Bruises stink.

Haven't talked to you in forever, how ya been? Other than your motorcycle mishap.

It's doing better and not as tender as it was the first day or two. The swelling has gone day but the number of colors has increased since I first did it.

I'm doing OK. This week is murder. Once it is over I'll be able to breathe easy for a bit and can't wait for that.
