Apparently the awesomest shirt in the world

Tags:
I have a new tshirt that I think just might be the most commented-upon shirt I've ever worn. I got it late yesterday (actually, I bought it before Christmas but the reason for the delay is a long and boring story). Since this upcoming week is spring break, many of my friends left town today so we had dinner last night for my birthday (and those still in town are coming over to my place on Sunday for cake, ice cream, and board / card games) and I decided to wear my new shirt. I was the first to arrive (I almost always am), and everyone else arrived in fits and starts after that. Every female friend commented on the awesomeness of my shirt when she arrived. Since I only wore it for dinner last night, I went ahead and wore the shirt again today. The secretary at the elementary school commented on it as did a random clerk in Walmart. Obviously I thought the shirt was cool or I would not have got it, but I didn't realize it was this earth-shatteringly cool at the time I bought it.

The shirt, for those dying to know, has a crown on it and says simply "Self-Rescuing Princess."

I think the lady shelving items at Walmart was the best. She started this long discussion about what a wonderful message it is for girls and how she has a niece who is constantly saying girls can't do things that boys can do and she keeps trying to make her niece see girls can do anything and on and on and on. It was hilarious and awesome.

That really is awesome! I'm a little distressed that her niece thinks girls can't do things boys can do, though.

So was she. So am I. Someday we'll get to where girls aren't made to think that way, or at least I hope we'll get there someday.
