Just let this week end

Tags: , ,
Going by classes, I am half way done with my last week of teaching this summer. I've only taught two of my five days, but I've done six of my twelve classes. The second half of my week is easier than the first, so I just might make it, even if the week has started fairly poorly.

Yesterday, I locked my keys half-in and half-out of my trunk. I'm still not sure how I managed this. The car was unlocked, so I could get in the car and even pull down the seats and get in the trunk. This did me no good. The trunk was literally closed around the keys in much the same way you've possibly closed a seatbelt in a car door. I could see the tip of the keys sticking out from under the trunk hatch. This did me no good. Two of my parents and I rummaged all around my trunk looking for an emergency release latch and never did find one. So I finally got AAA to send a locksmith. He slid two small plastic bags under the edge of the trunk and then pumped them with air until they got the trunk pushed open just enough to wiggle out the keys. It was insanity and caused me to start two of my classes just a few minutes late. Oops.

Classes went fine today. Then I came home for dinner. I've decided that I've been eating out a bit much lately so I was determined not to eat out tonight. I put a Lean Cuisine French Bread pizza in the oven instead. It got done cooking not too long ago and I tried it and it was nasty! I've had Lean Cuisine French Bread pizzas before so I don't know what was wrong with this one, but I couldn't eat it. I don't know what else to make and I'm too tired to really think or cook (my excuse a lot lately for eating out) so I guess I'm going to have to go out to get something. That or starve.

On the plus side, I'm off tomorrow! Yay! One of my middle schoolers recommended a book to me today that sounds fantastic so my current plan is to crash at B&N and read it. We'll see how that goes.

PS I forgot to give a status update about my mom! She had her gallbladder surgery on Monday last week and was released from the hospital on Tuesday. She stayed home the rest of the week and is doing better but isn't yet 100%. This week, she's gone in to work for a few hours every day but I don't think she's managed a full day yet.

I read this wrong and was totally confused for a minute wondering what your parents were doing in VA and then thinking, "two of them" -- I thought she only had two! Then it clicked you meant school parents...

I hope your week gets better, and I'm glad your mom's recovering!

What book were you recced? I just read The Eyre Affair and really liked it!

Sorry. I suppose your interpretation of what I wrote is the more logical one. That's just not where my mind was when i was typing. At least we're all on the same page now.

Cool! I've read the second one in that series now and I liked it as well. I don't think it was as good as The Eyre Affair, but it wasn't bad and I do plan to read some more of them some day.
